Plot:

Story of two friends who are always there for each other. Alice lives in the forest alone since her parents left her. Her Mother is known to be a witch. Since very young she has been living alone, exiled and feared by all. All except Lily, a girl who loves nature and feels more alive when amidst trees. Alice named the duo as Sisters of Shadow. Alice wasnt scared of living alone, she had now managed to live alone and take care of herself. What baffled her the most was the unawareness about her family members, who was her mother, if she was a witch, does that mean that even Alice is one. But she was never able to do any sorts of magic despite putting all her soul into it. One thing she knew for sure was that she definitely needs a good teacher who would teach her magic.

While she was practicsing in her cottage, she did come across some rumurs from the nearest village where something weird is happening in the mountains, and abduction of the kids from the village added to the overall suspense. Instead of being fearful of the overall scenario and more because she lived alone, Alice thought of finding whats happening in the mountains and parallely look for a teacher for herself. Amidst all this she recieved a random letter which asks her to reach at certain plaqce at certain time. She did mention this letter vividly to Lily, and post that leaves for the location and gets abducted.

When Lily couldnt find Alice she immediately knew she needs to find her friend. In the pursuit of finding her friend, Lily makes another friend, Jem who is also looking for her lost sister, Grace. Together they are trying to reach the Shadowland and save their loved ones.

What I liked about the book?

  1. Alice, who is self sufficient and despite the fact that she is alone this does not breaks her spirit, she is constantly trying to learn new things and doesn’t give up.
  2. Lily, is a good friend, she is aware that in the process of saving her friend she might get killed in the way but that doesn’t stops her to look after her friend. A self less friendship is what we can learn from Lily.

Who should read this?

Everyone who loves Fantasies, witches, girl friendships should read this. This book is not just about witches but complex relationship and bravery.
