Plot:
Heartwarming Memoir about a city girl who silently loves hills, countryside and therefore trades her career with five acres of land and animals.
Jake at the age of 38, was living in Tampa, running a her PR firm and spending her weekends shopping and dining out. Despite all this she was not happy and satisfied with her life. A broken marriage, miscarriages & fresh break up gave her anxiety and added to her trauma. One day she impulse bought a 5 acre land, ready to live her life on hills. Clueless about how this would work for her, she started by taking a few days off from work and moving to the country side.
Through out the chapter Jake is sharing her experiences of living in the farm like fixing well, taking care of her animals, playing them spa music when they are sick and naming them after her favorite fashion designers.
Big fan of Jake’s style of writing, the way she used humor to narrate her story was next level.
What I liked about the book?
An important take away from this book is to never give up on your dreams & always listen to that faint voice in the deepest corner of your heart that tells you to do what you love. Only you can change your current situations and at times things might appear tough superficially but trust yourself and you will definitely find out a way.
Who should read this?
Ideally everyone should read this, but i think the right target audience for this would be people working 9 to 5. This is a refreshing read, and will definitely give you some boost to follow your dreams.
Final Verdict
