Plot: This book is a historical fiction, where our protagonist was Alienor. She was a heiress to wealthy Aquitaine. After the demise of her mother, her father has always taken care of her and her sister Petronella. Things changed when her father died and she was forced to marry a young Prince Louis of France. Summer queen is a well researched book by Elizabeth on Alienor where she deep dives into her journey. Alienor, though being born in very old times, was a very strong and opinionated women. Her marriage to Prince Louis didn’t turn out to be a happy one. While she was in the process of annulling her marriage to him, she did had built intimacy with Geoffrey, but finally happily married Henry, Duke of Normandy.

What I liked about the book? I was inspired by our protagonist, Alienor. She handled every situation in her life gracefully. be it her relationship with her sister, who blamed her for her wrecked life or a husband who didn’t love her, she was initially always supporting them but never let their opinion/decisions over ride hers. She does not succumbs to ill fate but is always surviving. I liked how she foresees all possible events in her life and plans accordingly. Forexample: while her marriage with Louis was in the process of annulling, she made sure that she gets married to Henry, so that other opportunist do not attack and invade her palace. The guidance that she provided to Louis in her early years of marriage clearly indicates her strong sense of politics and diplomacy.

• If you love historical fictions and are into feminism, then this book is for you.

What did I learn from this book?

• Do not subjugate to unfortunate events in your life.
• Only you can change the direction of your life, so dont give the steering of your life in someone else’s hand. take accountability of making your life right and happy.
