Plot: This is a memoir of Michelle Obama (former First Lady of the United States). This book is very close to heart project for Michelle Obama and she has shared her personal experiences in it. She has covered everything from her life as a child, to a teenager, working professional, daughter, wife, girlfriend and mother.

Becoming is Michelle Obama’s memoir in which we can clearly see that success is never an overnight achievement, there are many days, weeks and years of dedicated and focused hard work, that ultimately results into a success.

What I liked about the book?

I had just finished reading this awesome book by the First Lady, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama. The beauty of this book was its simplicity and how relatable it would sound to women at every age. Me being a working mom, could totally relate to her struggle trying to balance her work and personal life. All her struggles where she would let go off an awesome opportunity just because she knew that she had to spend good time with her daughters, moving to academics to get that a balance in her life was all very relatable.

Another best part of this book was it was not all about politics, it was a story about a girl child that wants best grades, a daughter that loved her parents and missed her dad, a sister, always proud of her brother, a wife- who gave up opportunities that might had demanded more of her and her time, thereby not being able to give much time to her family, a mother- who is constantly guilty of not being able to cook food for her children at home, all the time and more.

What did I learn from this book?

Inspite of being a wife of President- her personality did not just smudge in all these roles, she turned out to be one of the most looked after role model for women around the world. This book is just a way of her telling all the readers that all famous people walk the same path of self-doubt, guilt and a feeling that we are not enough. Her book is all about not giving up and hanging in there all the time.

Another very important takeaway from this book would be her utter desire to learn and go to college and score good marks. Education has a deep and very strong role in turning us humans into who we are. Her education has some substantial role to play in her personality and in making her the women that she is today. Studying in good colleges also gave her the necessary exposure to the corporate world.

Who should read this?

I would highly recommend this book to everyone. You should read this book atleast once.
